CCLI Thoughts
"I don’t believe that God cares about record sales and popularity and chart position. And I somewhat wonder if the CCLI organization – which charges money every time the church sings a praise and worship song which is registered by their society – is cause for vexation in the Heavenlies? After all, if a song is written FOR God, to worship God, then shouldn’t it be GIVEN to God? If it’s FOR Him, shouldn’t HE own it?" - Larry Norman ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I've been dialoging via Email with a few guy at church, and would like to know your opinions about this quote (above) from Larry Norman.. As a Worship Song Writer, I happen to agree with it. The Lord has given me over 200 songs, and feel they should be freely used for His church to worship Him without charge in ANY way. I know they don't charge much, but that's not the point. Do you feel CCLI is a worldly system, that breeds a top 40 mentality? Now this may be my own opinion, so I would love to hear others. My songs are Copyrighten only to protect from ungodly misuse of the music and the change of the Words the Lord has given. Much Agape, Bill~

ccli
-- i personally agree you and larry. i think ccli is a detriment to worship music and to churches for a number of reasons. i think that worship music should always be free and ccli creates a difficult situation for churches, especially those who may not have the ability to pay for a license. i think a lot of things about ccli, but they are largely un-edifying. so, suffice it to say, my music will never be licensed by ccli. blessings and maranatha geno http://www.genepensiero.com
